
Borrowing money is often a recipe for disaster. If you’re on benefits and you’re struggling, go and ask for help through Jobcentre Plus. They may be able to help you out.
Sometimes they have special hardship funds. If you want help for buying something important, like a bed or clothes for interviews, you can usually get help.

If you're not married to the child’s dad, he still has to support his child financially. This is organised through the CSA (Child Support Agency).
If the two of you can agree between you how much he should pay, that’s fine. But, if he changes his mind or you lose contact, you'll be left without support. It might be better to get a proper agreement through the CSA. It can be better for the dad to know he's paying a fair amount.
