I’m Going to Have a Baby

Sterilise everything! Always use water that´s been boiled and then cooled. Or your baby could get an infection.

Always put the water in first, because you can’t measure the water if you’ve put the powder in.

Never store made up bottles – only make up what you are about to use. Storing made up formula milk can make baby ill, so throw away any that's left over.

Babies will sometimes want more than you thought, so be prepared.

You can store any water you’ve just boiled in an airtight flask and make up fresh formula milk when you need it later.

Babies usually feed every 3-4 hours. They don’t know the difference between night and day.

Make sure you´ve got a snack and drink ready made up for yourself while you´re feeding (but keep hot drinks away from baby). Remember, you must look after yourself, too.

Involve the dad in feeding, too, if you can. You can´t blame him for not being interested if you don´t involve him.
