I’m Going to Have a Baby

It’s normal to put on weight during pregnancy. If you eat healthily, and take gentle exercise, you won’t put on too much.

If you breastfeed your baby you've more chance of getting your figure back because it uses up the extra fat that you gain in pregnancy.

Dieting is a bad idea if you’re pregnant.
It can stop babies getting the nutrients they need.

Ask your midwife or GP if you’re worried about your weight.

What about morning sickness?

You might miss out on important foods if you're too sick to eat properly. So eat plenty of healthy food when you do eat, and take lots of fluid, even if you can’t eat.
