Here are your options:*

Probably the quickest way to get re-housed, and the most expensive.
Private landlords advertise in local newspapers and shop windows. Or you can get a list from the council.
Before you sign a contract ask the council for a 'pre-tenancy agreement determination' which should tell you how much housing benefit will be paid. Otherwise you might find you can't pay the rent.

These are cheaper, but it can take a while. Get a list of housing associations from the council or Connexions. Or look up housing associations in Yellow Pages (you can get it in the library).
To get on the waiting list you must fill in a form or register by phone.
*(if you are homeless, see I’m homeless what can I do?)
