Get your sleep, eat the right things and take time for quiet relaxation. If you´ve been up at night with baby, take a nap when baby does, if that helps

you. There´s no shame in it if it makes you feel better.
And the washing up can wait.

Your health visitor will tell you about local groups and classes where you can meet other mums your age, and get support and advice.

You don´t have to struggle on your own. Some people think you´re a bad mum if you leave your child with someone else.

There´s a lot of help available for childcare.
Ring Children´s Information Service.
If you think you might continue your education or get some training, there´s cash available to pay for your help with childcare. For under 19s it´s called Care to Learn . Or you can Contact, Connexions, Student Support Service (if in FE college) or the lone parent adviser at Jobcentre Plus. See Who Else Can Help?
