Social Workers

Social workers are available to help if you have difficulties.

Phone the Integrated Children’s Service for advice and information.

They can put you through to a social worker, if appropriate.

You need to think about sexually transmitted infections (STIs), too. STIs are on the increase, and many have no obvious symptoms. For advice on screening contact Brook, Abacus or your local sexual health clinic (sometimes called the GU, GUM or genito-urinary medicine clinic). See Who Else Can Help?

Or go to one of the clinics listed in Who Else Can Help?

They can offer free condoms; and Brook, and Abacus and The May Logan Centre (call for opening times) provide emergency contraception. NHS walk-in centres also provide emergency contraception.

If you or your partner uses drugs or other substances, it might affect your baby.

Ask your GP, midwife or health visitor for help.
